BC Comelec beefs up info campaign

Batangas City – As of July 31, 168,000 voters of Batangas City have already registered for 2010 elections. With 110,000 remaining unregistered voters, it is indeed a great challenge for the city Comelec to have all the “18-above” registered before the Oct. 31 deadline.

Atty. Percival Mendoza, Batangas City Comelec officer, said that they continually conduct their information campaign in different barangays of the city. They also seek help from barangay officials to encourage young people to register and exercise they right to suffrage.

Furthermore, Atty. Mendoza said that there is a big possibility for an automated election this coming 2010 national poll. With this, a less hassle election/counting can be expected.

In connection with this, members of board of election inspectors (BEI) will undergo training on how to use the poll automation machine. This training will be done in order to ensure an honest 2010 presidential election.

Meanwhile, on August 8-9, the Comelec will be conducting a special registration among the youths of Isla Verde.
