Five Ways to Enjoy the Rainy Days

You have to think of rainfall as a generous shower of blessings from above. Though I love the sun more than the rain, I eventually learned how to appreciate the goodness that comes unto the world when it rains.

What do you love about the rain? What do you usually do when it rains?

One. Everytime it rains, a lot of memories are revisiting your mind. Dahil kapag umuulan, masarap mag-senti. ‘Wag kang tatanggi dahil madalas bigla ka na lang may maaalala – masaya man o malungkot, pinilit mang kalimutan o nakalimutan na lang sadya. Sasabayan pa ‘yan ng soundtrip na nostalgic.

Two. Rainy days are often associated with eating your comfort food. Comfort food is defined as any kind of food that gives a sense of wellbeing. May be nostalgic and is associated with home or contentment. Like your lola’s special arroz caldo or your mom’s champorado.

Three. I remember when I was little, when it’s raining hard, the power supply will run out right away. Then my lola would tell stories of how life was like when she was our age. She was like Lola Basyang back then as she tells us stories of the Japanese invasion and how they were able to survive such tremendous attack. That was then. Now, I just read a good book.

Four. One of the things my cousins and I don’t get tired of doing when it rains is to sing our hearts out. Ang sarap makipagsabayan sa malakas na buhos ng ulan at sa sunod-sunod na dagundong ng kalangitan! Haha.

Five. A rainy day at home is the perfect time to get that precious sleep! I know a lot of you would pick this as the best thing to do when it’s raining. Consider this as your hibernation period. So when the sun comes out again, buhay na buhay na ang diwa mo! 🙂
