How Batangueños usually spend a long weekend?

Yesterday was our Muslim brothers’ celebration of Eid-ul Fitr which meant a non-working holiday for most of us. This gave us a long weekend which means Batangueños working in Metro Manila or in neighboring provinces will rush home to have a three-day vacation.

What do you do with a long weekend? Since yesterday, I’ve been rummaging through Facebook, every netizen’s favorite hub, observing how friends and other people within our network are spending this three-day off from work. Most stayed at home; others went out to see their friends; the other others, well, complained of lack of reason to enjoy the day. Perfect.

I spent the holiday with a disturbing headache. Then told mom I’m not used to staying at home anymore. Haha. Bad girl. So how are you spending the long weekend?

For workaholic folks (like us, laughs), long weekend is priceless. I remember a cousin’s wall post about how we complain when our parents tell us to have afternoon naps when we were little. Nowadays, just as she said, afternoon naps are priceless.

Batangueños love merry-making. Hanging out with friends top the list of our to-dos. We go out spend some hours (or the rest of the day) at the nearest shopping mall. This goes out for the ‘day people’.

The ‘night people’, on the other hand, go out on bars or coffee shops around town. Oh yes, if you’d been far away from Batangas or the Philippines for quite a long time, Batangas (particularly Lipa and Batangas City) now boasts of its own gimik spots gradually growing in numbers as time passes by.

We still have one more day off from work. Tomorrow’s a Sunday, let’s give thanks for all the reasons we have to live. However you want this three-day vacation to end, make it worthwhile. Happy weekend everyone! 🙂
