Batanguenos, there’s no need to worry about NFA rice. The National Food Authority (NFA) did not only assure the sufficient supply of rice but the quality of NFA rice as well. This is in contrary to other people’s belief that NFA rice is of low quality.
According to Danny Pastrana, NFA Region IV-A director, that they are implementing the food security program that ensures enough rice supply for 30 days in the entire region. This is because the region has enough supply in their storage building in Balagtas and Sampaga in Batangas City and in Ibaan aside from the supply coming in from San Jose, Mindoro and the rice import from Thailand and Vietnam.
There is also enough supply for registered retailers in the public market in Batangas City which can be bought for P25 per kilo.
Pastrana added that they are conducting weekly inspection of their rice to guarantee the public that they are being provided with safe and good quality rice. NFA uses indigenous pesticide such as madre cacao and sambong which prevents mold build-up.
