It’s about time to confess that I am a massage junkie. Nothing much of a negative thing there, right?
I often complain about backache and that ‘lamig’ which refers to those quite painful ‘bumps’ on one’s back. Visiting the nearest massage spa is of course, the immediate resolution to that.
It’s not really a luxury to consider. Or an indulgence meant only for rich people. Of course not. Massage treatment or service is for anyone who needs to have some pampering and relaxation to save their sanity from the grueling responsibilities at work or at home.
If you have extra money to spend on something worthwhile, you may try hitting the nearest massage spa and avail of 30 minutes to an hour of soothing massage as you wish. Whether it be upper back massage, whole body massage, or even a simple foot massage that you want, it’s basically up to you.
There are two massage spas that I’ve been revisiting since the very first time I tried having this pampering thing. But lately, I’ve discovered new spas and I know they’re worth another visit soon.
If you get tired of hours of walking and shopping, try to regain your energy after a relaxing massage at Dermstrata, Vibes Massage Services, and Bodytech Spa in Robinsons Place Lipa. Back massage prices normally range between P250 – P300.
Dermstrata only has one massage room, a couple’s room as they say, so it’s perfect for you and your special someone or with your BFF. Upper back massage with aromatherapy oil is worth P250 for 30 minutes.
Visually impaired massage therapists will give you a treat of different types of massage services in Vibes Massage. Whole body massage for one hour is worth P320. Never underestimate the ability of these visually impaired therapists for they are well-trained and they surely know what they are doing. I tried getting a massage at Vibes once. The therapist asked me if the intensity of her massage is just okay. It was too strong for my forever-and-ever-amen skinny bod so I asked her to switch to lighter intensity. Guess she wasn’t able to hear me as I was mumbling the words kasi ang tindi ng pagmasahe nya. Hinayaan ko na lang. 🙁
Bodytech is also okay but on my first visit, the masseuse was not in proper uniform and was texting every now and then while massaging my back. After every service, the masseuse will ask you to sit on the ‘stretching’ chair (I don’t know how it is properly termed) where you will then have your post-massage stretching. As far as I can recall, the 30-minute back massage is also priced at P250.
While at SM City Lipa, you can get a good massage in Big Apple, half hour upper back massage is at P250 (or P249) then you’ll have to add another P50 for your choice of aromatherapy oil. I often choose lavander. The therapists here are friendly and I often have little chit chats with whoever’s giving me the massage.
For massage spas outside of shopping malls, I recommend Nuat Thai and Ton Ton Thai Massage. Good thing about these two are their combo services like if you want 30 minutes foot massage plus 30 minutes back massage. They also have two sets of rates, the promo rates (day rate) and the regular rates (night rate).
Nuat Thai is located at the building across Max’s (beside SM Lipa), it’s on the second floor. You can find the entrance on the left side of Ford Lipa (if you’re facing Ford). Upon opening Nuat Thai’s door, amoy massage spa talaga! I am fond of having back massage only. Nuat Thai’s rate is relatively cheaper because the back massage is only P250 for one hour already. And that’s minus P50 pa of the regular rate if you go there between 11am to 5pm. They will offer you tea or water afterwards.
Ton Ton’s rates are P50 higher than that of Nuat Thai’s in general. But they have more services on the list which you can have for 30 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours. My guy and I had 30 minutes of back massage the other day for only P200 per person (regular rate) but I didn’t know that they won’t use oil. If only I knew, I would have asked for oil ’cause it’s more rejuvenating with than without. Then they will offer you salabat or water after the massage. Ton Ton Lipa City branch is located at the Petro Fuel Express Gas Station in Sabang.
Nuat Thai and Ton Ton are quite similar in almost everything – their low interior lights, the music, the decors which obviously scream of everything Thai, and the services they offer. I love that although you pay for back massage only, they will spare few minutes on your head plus some stretching done effortlessly by the masseuses. Definitely would love to go back anytime soon.
Actually, there are still some other massage spas in the city. The abovementioned spas are the ones I have visited so far. Spoil yourself sometimes. Get a little pampering because you deserve it. 😉
