To Believe Is to See

Faith is about things we do not see. The object of faith are the things that are unseen by naked eyes. This is the reason for the title of this article. Baluktot ang katwiran na “to see is to believe.” Ang tama: “to believe is to see.”

In fact when Thomas exclaimed, “My Lord and my God,” he professed his faith on what is unseen, that is, the Lordship and the divinity of Jesus! Nobody can ever see such profound mystery. But through the eyes of faith such reality can be grasped. Yes, Thomas may have waited for some conditions to be fulfilled before he professed his faith, but the truth is, he believed in the unseen and, as consequence, he was able to see not with human eyes but with the eyes of faith.

And don’t be afraid to take the plunge. It may prove risky. But this is where we get the very word “pananampalataya.” The root word is “taya.”
