Is there a difference between the Sundays when you were younger and the Sundays now that you’ve grown older?
I still see a lot of families going to church together then probably have lunch and movie date afterwards. And malls are among the happiest places each Sunday.
When I was little, our family had the usual family day every Sunday. We go to church together then off to lunch afterwards. Now it’s kind of different. We haven’t gone to church as a whole family for a long time now. My mom goes to church alone as early as 6am while I attend mass later during the day.
That became a typical Sunday for us. My brother goes to work because his workplace is in a shopping mall so he’s got a weird schedule of his own. My dad, on the other hand, considers Sunday just as how he treats the other six days of the week.
Sunday is family day. But as the years passed, I realized as we grow older and as we manage our best to run our own lives, typical Sundays may mean differently.
The old ways may not be in existent or may have shifted to something we consider the ‘current typical’ but you know what, any day of the week can be family day.
How about you, what’s a typical Sunday for you family?
