It seems like the weekend news are not so much of the good ones but because we’re Filipinos, our positivity remains undaunted.
Operation ‘Sagip Kalihim’
My family and I were having our late merienda that Saturday afternoon when TV Patrol Weekend delivered a breaking news right before the program concludes. Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo went missing after the private plane that carries him and three other people crashed off to the waters of Masbate.
Sec. Robredo, pilot Captain Jessup Bahinting and Nepalese co-pilot Kshitiz Chand are still missing as of writing. Also in the plane is Sr. Insp. Jun Abrasado, the secretary’s aide, who was rescued on the sea by a local fisherman.
Pres. Noynoy Aquino has not left Masbate since Saturday to personally monitor the search and rescue operations for the DILG secretary. Let us join the family, friends and colleagues of Sec. Robredo, pilot Capt. Bahinting, and co-pilot Chand in praying for their safety and immediate recovery.
Tropical Storm ‘Igme’
Are your plans spoiled by the weekend rains? Tropical storm Igme hits Cagayan and Isabela, triggering Southwest Monsoon again which will bring moderate to heavy rains over Central and Southern Luzon.
Other weekend newsmakers
Zsa Zsa Padilla is diagnosed with Stage 1 kidney cancer. The Divine Diva flew to the US to seek for second opinion. She kept mum about her condition as she focused on taking care of her Lovey, during the last days of the life of the late Comedy King Dolphy.
Meanwhile, our Miss World 2012 representative Queeneerich Rehman failed to bring home the still elusive Miss World crown. Queeneerich managed to enter the Top 15 though and got a much-deserved attention in the talent competition where she did beat boxing.
Wen Xia Yu of China won the Miss World 2012 title which was held, er, in Inner Mongolia, China.
