3 Generations of Batangueño Priests Ordained in Rome

It’s destiny, a modern-day miracle, God’s blessing for a family, Batangas, and the nation as a whole. On May 5, 2018 Fr Alfred Robert ” Arby” Vergara Cruz was ordained at the Roman Basilica of Saint Eugene in Rome, Italy, making him the 3rd priest in the family who was ordained in Rome.

Fr. Arby Vergara Cruz is the nephew of Fr. Boy Madlangbayan Vergara. In turn, Fr. Boy, who was ordained in Rome in 1985, is the nephew of Msgr. Fred Madlangbayan of Bauan, Batangas. Msgr. Fred is one of the first Filipino priests who studied and was ordained in Rome (1966).

Fr. Boy Vergara has a weely episode of his homily (Biyaya ng Diyos) on our Facebook Page. He told us that upon learning that his nephew Arby has decided to leave his profession as an Architect to study in Rome and pursue his calling as a priest, Fr. Boy prayed to God and was ecstatic for this blessing to his Family. He says it is an answered prayer.
