EJ Salazar of ABS CBN’s Tawag ng Tanghalan fame says she has done enough with her singing career and the time has come to close the proverbial curtain.
Despite having equally impressive stints at X Factor, Idol Philippines, and I Can See Your Voice, the Darasa, Tanauan native now appears to be happily content in attending to her duties as LIMA’s marketing officer and as an active volunteer for the church.
WALA TALAGA AKONG CONFIDENCE BEFORE
EJ admits that she is no big-time belter. Growing up in the time of Sarah Geronimo and competitions that favor high-pitched performances, she felt that her soothing yet melodic croons—a cross between Moira and KZ Tandingan— had no place on the big stage.
But she tried anyway. And successfully, at that.
The Batanguena wowed crowds and drew praises from her performances that included a laid-back rendition of Kitchie Nadal’s Huwag na Huwag mong Sasabihin and Pink’s Perfect which sh0owcased her vocal chops and rapping sensibilities.
KUSANG DUMARATING
In an interview with WOWBatangas, EJ noted, “parang tapos na ako sa ganon,” hinting that she grew tired of performing in front of an audience. She then found herself singing away from the limelight and into the doors of the church which she believes is more gratifying and purpose bound: “Iba talaga yung feeling ‘pag kumakanta ka para kay Lord.”
The invitation from Batangas Lakelands, a premiere leisure park in Batangas, to perform and front for Yeng Constantino came as a surprise for EJ.
EJ has always been a great marketing officer for LIMA and its sister company Batangas Lakelands. However, said companies couldn’t contain the notion that her passion and talent for singing just be reserved for old youtube uploads.
Her bosses asked her to perform in front of an anticipated crowd for Batangas Lakelands’ concert, Alab ng Pasko—a standing-only concert and an opening event for Batangas Lakelands’ second installment of the annual Christmas Lights of Batangas Festival.
With a renewed love for singing and performing, the singing competition standout gladly obliged.
“Sa totoo lang, pag talaga hindi mo hinahanap, kusang dumadating— yung shine mo darating din,” she cheerfully furthered. EJ has all the gratitude to the Lord and the big hats of LIMA and Batangas Lakelands as she will once again perform for a crowd and now, for the fulfillment of her faith in God.
