Just this morning, Dyan and I represented WOWBatangas in Drive Radio 99.9 and Batangas Provincial Government’s Pulong Bayan. The two-hour forum focused on the development of Tourism in the province of Batangas.
Among the guests were Vice Governor Mark Leviste, 2nd district Board Member, Joel Atienza, Provincial Tourism Officer II, Ms. Jaida Luistro, Tanauan City Tourism Officer, Ms. Frida Tolentino, Residencia de Riego Resort Manager, Mr. Lyle Kelvin Cajayon and of course Dyan Hernandez and yours truly of WOWBatangas.com.
DJ Ronie, the anchor of the said program, led the group by asking relevant and timely questions about Batangas tourism. He first focused on tourism-related-efforts made by the government, specifically by its chariman, Vice Governor Leviste.
“We are truly giving our best efforts to promote Batangas. In fact, just last year, we had this road show headed by Mr. Pancho Lardizabal, Tourism Provincial Officer together with Ms. Jaida.” They set up booths on malls all over luzon just to showcase the beauty of our province, our wonderful beaches, great products, warm people, culture, tradition and all,” said VG Leviste.
He also said that they are continuing their efforts in maintaining a clean environment, peace and security and good infastructures like roads in the province.
Board Member Joel agreed with Vice Governor by telling the importance of all those mentioned above in attracting local and foreign tourists in the province. “All these play great roles para maging ka-akit akit ang ating probinsya, at maidagdag ko pa, Mapalad tayo na mayroon tayong governor na gaya ni Gov. Vi kasi sya palang ay tourist attraction na,” the board member explained.
Ms. Jaida of the provincial tourism office said that there is an influx of tourists coming over the province for the past years. Just like last year, we had over 2 million local and foreign tourists who visited Batangas.
Ms. Frida on the other hand mentioned that the quality of service really add up to the strenghts of tourism on a particular area like Tanauan. The Tanauenos according to her, are really blessed to have thought of having their own techology on packing products. “Nakakatulong talaga ito sa mga local manufacturers and producers kasi napapahaba ang buhay ng mga products na ibinebenta at siyang pinanggagalingan ng kita ng mga local folks,” Ms. Frida emphasized.
Us on the other hand shared our experiences and contributions in further fructifying the province’s tourism.
Dyan shared with the listeners how WOWBatangas.com started –that this website was conceived to give something back to the community. It has started two years ago with the aim of not just informing Batanguenos about everything Batangas but to share the whole world the beauty that our province has to offer. Dyan also said that WOWBatangas is an interactive online community of Batanguenos here and abroad.
I likewise added that WOWBatangas is Likha Internet Solutions’ (our main business) gift to Batanguenos. We created this also because we would like to open a window for the world to see how wonderful it is to be in this province called Batangas.
We also shared how the website could help in Batangas tourism. We mentioned about those comments and inquiries about Batangas that we recieve from different people from different parts of the world everyday.
“We’ve got analytics in which we could monitor the keywords being typed by people… salamat na lang kasi optimized ang site po natin which is WOWBatangas, kaya nadidirect po sila sa ating website. By the way, we are into internet marketing din po kasi kaya nagagawa po naming mai-direct sa aming website yung mga sinesearch ng mga tao…Doon po sa ating analytics ay makikita natin yung exact location, time and keyword na hinahanap ng mga tao at usually nga po ito ay mga bagay, lugar at events na may kinalaman sa Batangas,” I said.
The pulong bayan program has also given me and Dyan an opportunity to promote the site and encourage contributions (video, articles, photos) among fellow Batanguenos.
By the way, Mr. Cajayon of Residencia de Riego Resort also partook in the discussion. He mentioned about their experiences in managing a must-visit resort like thiers and their way of serving and accomodating tourists.
