Make a child happy. Unexpectedly, what you’ll be reading below is the actualization of what I’ve written this morning – Why Christmas is the Most Wonderful Time of the Year? – where I tackled how special the yuletide season is for kids. Well, unexpected on my part.
After lunch, we headed to SM City Lipa for a Christmas party organized by SM Foundation and people from SM City Lipa Admin Office. This event is for the benefit of 200 children from various parts of Lipa City.
The event is anchored on SM Foundation and SM Supermalls’ Make a Child Happy, Share-a-Toy campaign. According to our conversation with SM Foundation Project Coordinator Dalfhen S. Samson, this is an annual project participated by selected SM Supermalls. SM City Lipa is one of the selected SM Supermalls for this year where a Christmas party will transpire for their chosen beneficiaries.
The kids were from Lipa Archdiocese Social Action Commission (LASAC), from Sagip Eskwela (indigent children sent to school by DSWD), from Banay-Banay, and Bulacnin. Some of them were street children who sell sampaguita around the metro.
Through Ms. Wendy Cueto-Bautista, PR Officer of SM City Lipa, WOWBatangas Team was given the chance to take part in this fun-filled event. Gerlie co-hosted the event alongside Ms. Wendy, Alva took photos, while JR and I helped out in the games. Thanks to our OJTs Cathy and Rachel for taking some of the tasks. 😉
This Christmas party contributed in those children’s happiness, even just for today. There were games where the kids actively participated, goodies and tiny trinkets as prizes to take home, and free ice cream from Mr. Softy Ice Cream and glitter tattoo courtesy of NCY Photo Booth and Accessories. Happily Ever After made the young at hearts (including us) a bit happier with their photo booth.
But what delighted them the most were the appearances of Jollibee and Young Ronald McDonald’s mascots (of course they appeared solo, haha) and the highlight of the party – the gift giving.
All of them received toys from SM Foundation and SM City Lipa. It’s always a joyful moment seeing kids open gifts. The smile on a child’s face is priceless and surely one of the most endearing things in the world.
The Make a Child Happy, Share-a-Toy campaign of selected SM Supermalls will run until January 5, 2010. You can drop your toy donations on their booth across the Food Court, 2nd floor.
Again, we would like to thank SM City Lipa for allowing WOWBatangas Team to be part of this gleeful event. This is an early Christmas treat for the kids. The event turned our hearts joyful. It was like bringing our childhood memories and our juvenile perspectives of the true meaning of Christmas.
