Taal Lake and Taal Volcano
The main tourist attraction here is the world famous TAAL VOLCANO. Being a coastal municipality, a lot of tourist were able to catch a glimpse of the Volcano Island and for others who long for first hand and closer view of the Volcano itself, a thirty to thirty five (30-35) minute travel by motorboat from Talisay will bring them there where available boat-for-hire services is always on the stand by.
The Tourist Reception Center located in Taal Volcano Island serves as a lounging area and starting point to tourists who will go to the main crater. It is specially designed for tourists who loves to indulge in adventures and nature tripping. It also caters them a place where they can find the history and other relevant information about Taal Volcano and its previous eruptions. This Reception Center aims to promote the significance of it’s historical value by which people should realize that we need to protect our environment and to utilize its resources properly.
Others go to Tagaytay City, which can be reached, in 15-minutes uphill drive, to get a full view of the Taal Lake and its surroundings.
Cruising at the lake and trekking to the volcano crater is no less than a wonderful experience. The crater within a lake and a lake within a crater is a sight to behold and not everyone can get this rare experience.
The San Guillermo Parish Church
The miraculous Patron Saint of Talisay, San Guillermo (St. William), was said to have driven away the volcano material emitted by Taal during its most disastrous eruption of 1911. Standing atop the old church facing the direction of Taal, it is widely perceived that he miraculously caused the burning volcanic materials not to reach Talisay and sparing it from total disaster.
At present, through the effort of our local Parish church, he has managed to gather funds for the on-going reconstruction and rehabilitation of the building. Almost every barangay has a catholic chapel in its midst. Likewise, there are sprinkling of chapels of other religious sects scattered within the municipality, notably Seventh Day Adventist, Iglesia ni Kristo, Jehovahs Witnesses, Philippine Biblical Missionary, among others.
Ambon-Ambon Falls
Located at Brgy. Miranda, development plans had already been established, to include among others, trail hike and establishment of a campsite and a nature park.
Annual Fiesta Festival
Held on February 9th and 10th each year, the fiesta celebration as commemoration to the patron saint San Guillermo, has always been the most awaited festival event of this municipality. Fifteen (15) barangays are simultaneously in celebration, attracting multitude of visitors, including a great number of devotees, carnival fairs and merchants.
The local residents make it a tradition to prepare excessive foods, not just for visitors but also to kindle prosperity. The festival is usually capped by the traditional procession followed by a wonderful fireworks display at the churchyard. “Karakol”, Street dancing competition and Cultural Night Presentation are just some of the events. One can always expect a great fun of joy and the solemnity of its celebration that every individual should capture and experience this once a year festivity of this town.
Special Interests
Aqua Sports, such as hobie, windsurfing, kayaking and yachting are offered by some of the resorts.
Several jump-off points for such activities as mountaineering and trekking have been established.
