Batangas Photography Awards 2015

The awards’ mission is to recognize the photography talent and effort of groups and individuals in the promotion of Batangas Culture and Tourism. It is organized by WOWBatangas.com and the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office of Batangas.

The Batangas Photography Awards will consist of several awards with their own set of mechanics, qualifications and prizes. For its first year, the theme will be on Batangas Culture and Tourism.

Please read through the complete mechanics before submitting your application form.

THE AWARDS

Photographer of the Year

  • must be 18 years old and above, born or currently residing in Batangas Province
  • must be a person of character and integrity
  • amateur and professional photographers may apply
  • POTY Application Form

Camera Club of the Year

  • must be formed on or before January 2015 with main office or operations within Batangas Province
  • must be a club of good standing with the Batangas Community
  • CCOTY Application Form

Student Photographer of the Year

  • must be a High School or College Student of any Batangas Educational Institution from January-April 2015 and/or June 2015 up to the present
  • must have good standing in academics and respected in the school community
  • SPOTY Application Form

Student Organization of the Year

  • must be a Photography Club, Arts Club or School Publication of any Secondary or Tertiary Educational Institution
  • must be a club in good standing and recognized by their school
  • SOOTY Application Form

National Camera Club of the Year

  • must be a predominantly Filipino photography club of good standing with the photography community
  • must have visited Batangas in 2015 and conducted photo shoots and/or seminars in the province
  • NCCOTY Application Form

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Persons may apply directly or be nominated by family and friends for individual awards. Those nominated will be contacted and must formally accept the nomination.
  • Club or Organization Applications must be submitted by an authorized member/representative.
  • The online Application Forms are available at this page : http://wowbatangas.com/baphoa2015/ After filling-out the form you will need to submit 5 photos with description for the individual awards and 10 photos with description for the club awards by going to https://www.facebook.com/wowbatangas, click Send Message and add the photos to your message.
  • Once shortlisted as a finalist, the person and authorized representative must be available on November 14, 2015 for the Interview with the Judges and signing of Finalist Acceptance Form at the Tourism Office, Batangas Provincial Capitol, Batangas City.
  • Finalists must also be willing to have their submitted photos displayed at the Ala Eh! Festival Photo Exhibit at Sto. Tomas, Batangas on December 1-8, 2015 and other succeeding exhibits. Ownership of the photos are retained by the finalists, while granting non-exclusive right to the Organizers.
  • Winners must make themselves available for the awarding with Governor Vilma Santos-Recto on December 8 at Sto. Tomas, Batangas, receiving trophy and cash prizes.

IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Photos must be taken from January 1, 2015 up to the present.
  • The photos may be of a person or group of persons, event, objects, place, scenery or wildlife, that promote Batangas Culture and Tourism.
  • Allowed global minor edits are burning, dodging, color correction, levels (brightness and contrast), black and white, and cropping.
  • Third-party filters are not allowed.
  • Image must not have any watermarks or date overlay.
  • The unedited / high resolution copy of the images must be brought to the Judges’ interview on November 14.
  • For the individual awards, submit 5 photos online with description (Date, Place, Story of the Photo).
  • For the club/org awards, submit 10 photos online with description (Member Photographer, Date, Place, Story of the Photo).

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 2015

  • October 7 – November 7 – Application and Nomination
  • November 11 – Announcement of Finalists
  • November 14 – Finalists Interview with Judges
  • December 1-8 – Ala Eh! Festival Exhibit of Finalist Photos at Sto. Tomas, Batangas
  • December 8 – Announcement of Winners During the Ala Eh! Festival Street Dance

JUDGING, AWARDS and PRIZES

  • An independent Board of Judges will be appointed by the Organizers for this award.
  • The Board of Judges reserves the right
    – to move finalists from one award to the other where applicable and appropriate.
    – to remove an award in its entirety based on the number of shortlisted finalists and quality of their photos, and upon consultation with the Organizers.
  • Finalists will be judged 40% based on activities and 60% based on submitted photos.
  • Winners will receive a trophy and cash prizes (P10,000 for the Individual and P20,000 for the Club Awards).
  • Finalists will be awarded with a certificate.
